Mountain Bike Ride
 (United Kingdom)

Resurecting the thread from the old website - the Bike Ride

A few of you showed interest - Nick, Will, Garie, Kit (volunteered by Tim maybe), Keith.....were there any others?

I plan to pick a date in May as I am busy every weekend in June so expect an announcement Tuesday or Wednesday as soon as I have confirmed it with my social secretary.

The plan is to meet at Stockhill Woods in Priddy at 10:00am probably on a Sunday, do at least 2 hours in the woods. There are lots of tracks of varying difficulty and nothing too steep.  Then down the pub for lunch.  A Mountain Bike will be required as this is all off-road

Watch this thread for more details

I'll check with Steve & Sarah (make sure we haven't anything on... at the red Dragon the day before) and then confirm.

have you got an OS Grid ref for the car park ?  (I assume it's the forestry park near priddy pools ?)

Nick

Re: Mountain Bike Ride

Nick has cried off.  Something to do with babies, decorating, building rally cars, radio on Red Dragon the day before.  Says he is too busy.

It seems to be just Keith and me with 5 days to go.

Where are Will, Garie and all the other willing bikers?

Simon can't come as he is going to church to hear the bands being read.  Yes, in case you didn't know Simon is getting married on 9 June.

Kit is studying for exams coming up soon.

What about Lee Harding.  Rumour has it that his bike is just for recceing

Looks like it's just you and me Keith.

It is up to you as you have to travel.  I will either go out on the bike on Saturday or Sunday so it makes no difference to me.  You are quite welcome to join me.

Unless there is anyone else interested?????

All true I'm afraid too much to do and not enough time to do it and if the rally car isn't finished and I'm out playing before the baby arrives (in Sept) who knows when I'll get out ..... from what age can to you teach them to use a spanner ?

Should be out well before then as long as Sarah doesn't find me any more jobs to do !!! .......and I stop volunteering to help other people all the time with their cars / landrovers !

shame I have to go to work as well really

Good fun, mostly dry with the odd puddle/slippery bit.Glad there wasn't any big hills as my legs were burning enough as it was.

Good to get the bike out as its a waste sat in the shed so i'm up for some more, maybe with some other club members.

Re: Mountain Bike Ride

Don't believe what Keith says, he is a lot fitter than he makes and having a few less years than me left me standing up the steep bits.

It was a great couple of hours.

Keith did have a "stage one" mechanical failure that we thought was going to cause an early retirement.  We did manage to effect a small bodge that got the bike through the rest of the ride without the rear wheel falling off.

I will try and organise another ride probably in July with hopefully a few more people.

I was hoping you wouldn't mention that.Probably due to a lack of maintenance.

Nice one Lee.

I assume you meant to reply to the "Tavern Bike Ride (Official)" thread which is about the Bike Ride on the 3 June.  This thread is the one about the Mountain Bike ride that took place on 20 May.

Look forward to seeing you and Shawn on the 3 June
