They use them as Police cars in Zermatt.  I took this picture when we were there last year.

Well our entry is in the post. Who's doing it? We're hoping it will be a good shakedown for our new purchase.... Mr Proflex should be very happy!

Re: Wyedean

That's great news about Simon getting a ride with Adam. Does anyone know whether he will be course car before the whole event (in front of 1400's) or in front of car 1??? When news came out that a Fiesta s2000 will be course car we assumed it would be ahead of car 1, but it would be great to have a course opener in front of 1400's...

Re: Wyedean

Best of luck to all 'Taverners' who are out this weekend on the Wyedean. I hope everyone has a good and safe event.

Best of luck to JD in the hot seat with Alan - should be a great ride!

Been watching the DVD all weekend and the stages are seriously quick - going to take some serious concentration! Can't wait

Hope to catch up with as many tavern members as possible during the weekend.

I make it 9 Taverners entered.

Simon Sparey,Will Rutherford and Lee Harding co-driving for others.

Jim Munden & John Leigh,Richard Baker & Dale Lovegrove,Alan Debois & JD

Have we got a marshaling team as well?

Good luck to all.

Myself and the Perrotts are spectating  as well as others no doubt.

Re: Wyedean

There will be a Tavern team doing the Speech House SS6 finish (as usual)  this year I think it is Nick, BT, DS, Phil & Maureen, and myself but DM is not now with us as he normally is, due to work commitments.

I'm thinking of spectating at Mailscot SS1 as there would be ample time to see quite a few cars through -  before shooting up the road to our post at Speech House. Don't usually get the chance to do both - depends on the weather.

Some say there could be quite a bit of snow before next weekend............................

To be honest we'd quite like either loads of the white stuff, or none at all! The main concern at the moment for us is the potential ice. Running first car on the road will not be easy if there are patches of ice and snow lying around. Let's just hope that they put Adam/Simon in front of us, so at least we've got some decent lines to follow!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wyedean
 (United Kingdom)

interesting day, so the organisers, with Dick, write a saftey plan with details of where all the radios should go - I was with the rest of Tavern Crew at the stop line... then the start radio for the stage decides to allocate people as he sees fit, what a c*ck!!! (In the words of the great James May!) so I ended up on J6 (Long way around tree).

However great group of Marshals (3) and 100+ speccies plus at least another 100-150 at J7 that the three marshals had to cover also! - I did get to watch some action which was good though!

Alan - disappointed to hear your retirement as the car was sounding great and you looked quick through J6

The Marshal that went up to J7 (double apex long hairpin?) came back full of it at the end telling me of 2 Red Escorts that were a great sight to watch going sideways, I didn't need to ask who, - he said cars 41 & 42 Rob & Jim !!

Gutted for Jim & John on the retirement, going really well 19o/a and 1st in class before the retirement .

Re: Wyedean
 (United Kingdom)

A big, big thanks to JD for sitting in the hot seat yesterday.  It is such a shame that the car let us down as we were 3rd in class when we retired and were getting quicker with every stage (except Chepstow Park which I was just slow in for some reason).

JDs note calling was improving during the day and it was all coming together in Speech House when unfortunately we lost 3rd and 4th gears.  There are no horrible noises from the box so I assume it is just a loose selector.  Also had problem with getting from 1st to 2nd all day.  It seems that at high revs there is somehow a movement of the gear lever that finds a dead end but I can't reproduce it at low revs.  I had just sussed how to get around it when we lost the other gears.

The aim of the days was to get to the finish, test me after the accident last years and test the car after a major front end rebuild so I drove at about 7 - 8 10ths all day.  I think I am OK, the rebuilt car is OK it is just the new gaerbox that stopped us getting to the finish.

We both enjoyed the event anyway just a bit disspointed.

Thanks to Denise and Andy for Management/Service.

Re: Wyedean

A great result for us, but not the easiest!! Awful handling and setup in the morning and then no intercom for 2 stages in the afternoon.

I must apologise for being uptight when we reached the boys and girls at the end of Speech House! It had been a bit frantic through there and not easy!

We're really pleased with the new suspension and we think we've found a good setup. Just hope we can have success in the BRCC this year!!

Thanks to all Tavern members who were out helping - much appreciated!

Re: Wyedean

What can i say, gutted not to get to the end but with 3 miles to go in ss7 the o/s front stub axle sheared, sending the wheel, disc and caliper bouncing off into the trees! Luckily we found the wheel etc, but i premature end to an awesome days rallying. Everything was going well, we were flying from the morning start...even a puncture on the road section to chepstow park didn't cause us any delays.

Ah well, there's always the next event to come back stronger and harder! Congrats to Rob and Lee, i think having you as the car in front was spurring Jim on quite a bit, our rattly old wheelbarrow chasing down your work of art!!

Shaun said it was the quickest he'd seen Jim in the woods!! Very spectacular apparently!! Can't argue with your pace though, matching Hetherington all dat takes some going!!
