..........WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE CARPENTERS TAVERN - SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS..................
2 of Tavern's oldies have done us proud this weekend by winning the Great Bustard Endurance Rally.
Martin/Dad seem to have taken the victory during the night section - a great effort to win their first enduro. Good news seeing that some of the event was competed at Keevil
Unfortunately it seems Steve Connor/Mark Milton retired during the evening but the retirement is unknown. I hope Steve enjoyed himself on the new discipline of event and hopefully we'll hear a report from him soon.
Yeah we did very much enjoy the challenge - managed to complete 320 of the 330 miles before sliding off the track in the woods on the penultimate selective! Still not sure why it happened but we could not get the car out so had to wait for the closing car 4x4 to pull us out. Really disappointing after surviving so much and Mark got on very well with the timing and average speed stuff. Thought it was far too rough in places - we had the sumpguard ripped off at Worthy Farm night section and had to continue guardless over the remaining rough woodland sections trying to avoid holing the sump!! We hit it hard many times but somehow got away with it. Thankfully the brake and fuel lines were already inside the car!
Great fun though and we will be back for more!! ( with a very strong sumpguard + forest suspenders + skidded exhaust etc !)
It did mention in the regs that 'Sumpguards are RECOMMENDED for the quicker crews' !!
Great to see Martin and Bob win for Tavern.
