Denise and I will be running a bit further back than Will so we will see tavern at Speech House a bit later on.

Andy Stephens and Nick Eccles are service/management crew for the day.

Will,

it is always worth knowing where Lee Harding is going to be watching because he goes to potential accident spots.  He will be in Chepstow Park in the morning about 2 miles in.  On the notes it is on page 3 near the bottom reading "5L + 4L ! > C" (or something very similar).  Apparently this is very deseptive and the trick is to keep on the inside of the bend.

If/when I find out where he will be in the afternoon I will try and text you.  I won't know till Saturday during the event and even then it may be too late for you (being so early on the road).

Have a good one.

Thanks Alan, Cheptow Park does look incredibly slippy on the DVD. There is a lot of thick mud, I just hope that they wrote the notes before some of the grading was done to the surface! I'll have a look for the bends you're mentioning tonight. Alan, are you staying over in Chepstow Friday or not?

How many times have you gone round there with no problem without knowing it's on Lee's list?

Re: Wyedean

All through noise test and scrutineering OK.  After restuffing the exhaust because Denise thought it sounded a bit loud we passed noise with 92dB.  Speccies will not hear us coming on the stages.  We were at Chepstow in plenty of time and were 10th in the queue in the sun instead of snow this year.

Spoke to Pauline & Phil Wilkinson from Tavern.

As I type this the car is in the car park at Chepstow race course and hopefully will still be there tomorrow.

Rally report on Sunday.

Re: Wyedean
 (United Kingdom)

A good day generally.  A great morning and a couple of problems in the afternoon including hitting a tree.  Managed to keep or position we had held all day of 2nd in class and 61st overall.

The Serridge and Speech House stages are worth building a rally car for own their own.  Serridge was ballistic.  We spent more time flying than on any other stage ever.  I spotted we were pulling 7500rpm in 4th gear on the tarmac section which equates to 97mph.  We hit the same speed on the gravel in Serridge and probably over 100mph in Speech House.

It was good to see all the Taverners out competing, marshalling and watching the event.

Hopefully I will do a fuller report tomorrow.

Re: Wyedean

Well done Alan and Denise you were really trying over the flying finish of Speech House (ONE OF THE ONLY ONES THAT WERE OUT SIDE THE TOP 10) and you nearly caught the Landrover with a punture   Understand Will had a gearbox problem and Jim a engine problem both very early on Did Simon M finish?     Had a great day with Steve E on flying finish clock watching the local crews trying to use the hairpin which has been used alot over the past few years but was taken out this year in a change of the stage route in favour of a very fast right to finish (It just shows that you drivers don't listen to us codrivers and can't see arrows). The most fun was trying to stop all the specs walking through the timing beam dispite both me and steve standing in the way. Understand the 'Lee Harding Effect' happened on our stage this year but gald to hear both crew are fine but the car was a bit of a mess just after a £85 grand rebuild.   .

Re: Wyedean

Patch is fine thanks.... just been back to the eye hospital to have the rust removed ... all ok just a bit itchy now !!

Servicing was good with Andy for Alan and Denise, especially as the car was reliable meant no hassle for us leaving plenty of time for Bacon/breakfast butties !

I saw the aftermath of the Evo off and i'm glad i didn't see the accident. Not the sort of thing I'm interested in seeing.

Lets just say the co driver is a very lucky lad.

Re: Wyedean
 (United States)

Okay so not a great event. All was looking good. Julian was giving a well measured push through Chepstow Park. We caught Middleton just after the mid-point and so we backed off slightly more to get through the first one. As we passed him, the diff decided to try and get out through the casing, and so it was game over (Same problem which we had on the North Humberside). We managed to get through the stage, fastest 1400, but to no avail really. It was seriously muddy in there, but we were really focused for serridge and speech house. Never mind, there's always another day!

Sorry, forgot to say in the last post: Just got back from Shepton Mallet...Martin C and dad managed to snap a shock in half so were forced out of Great Bustard. They were well inside the top 5 and on it. It was a brand new shocker, so they're really dissapointed.

You tube clip  of my pathetic off on serridge 2 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KkwIId55lQU 1 minute 20 seconds in.

Stupid off.  I couldn't get my brain to tell my foot to come off the brake pedal.

mind you if I had hit the tree with the side of the car at the same speed there would have been a hell of a lot more damage.

I found a better clip.  This one has Andy Burton going off at the beginning of the clip and us getting it right at the very end (last car in fact).

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_qGfJz_zX0g

You were right it does sound loud on the stages but at home on Sunday taking it up to 4500rpm as per noise test it sounds OK.

I didnt know it did the links for you clever stuff.

The bottom link is wrong and doesnt work so just search for dodger 1275(you tube obviously) and you will find his full clip at 6mins+ and a couple of single clips including 1 of yourself.

Thanks Keith there is some good coverage here. Looks like there are some very good places to watch in Serridge too!

Good to see Alan & Denise going well and getting a good result, the engine rebuild and modifications all worthwhile.

Would have liked to have seen you go through Speech House but after 30mins had passed after the accident and still no sign of the stage restarting we decided to call it a day.
