PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL
 (N/A)

WELL DONE! to Kit and Tim Leigh on not only finishing, but 24th overall / 5th in class.A great result!

This new car is proving to be very reliable - did the service crew have any major work to do?

Re: PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL

Looks like they may have super rallied, as they were a good 20 minutes down after half hour competition according to yesterday's results....

Since seeing the results earlier on, they have now jumped one place to 23rd overall.

Re: PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL

They managed to get two punctures last night so had to make use of the super rally rules.  Tim reckons they would have been 17th overall and 2nd in class otherwise.  Not bad for an International event

Adam Gould also took part and was lying in 15th overall and was leading class R2 but didn't finish stage 10 along with 4 other cars who retired on the same stage.

Re: PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL

I calculated the same roughly, good stage times from Kit (and Tim of course)....

Good to see Adam living up to expectations, same about the car reliability though (broken wishbone?)

That photo must be at the beginning of the first stage on Saturday.
We had to re-scrutineer for Superrally before 9.05 and didn't start until 10.04, so the service crew had plenty of time to do it!

Reference Tims event report.

I think that describes Rallying quite well.

Wouldn't mind, trouble is most are tarmac and involve quite a lot of time off. Wouldn't mind doing Manx, but it won't be this year. We will be at Trackrod, but may just do the National event as it is an ANCRO round - doing the International is quite appealing though.

Kit needs to work on his new employers to get the time off for Rally GB.

Quite interested in last weeks MN article about expanding the BRC with more gravel events. I can see the BRC and ANCRO being packaged up together for quite a few events next year.

Re: PIRELLI INTERNATIONAL

without being too nosey.... Is it much more expensive doing the international events considering the increase in stage mileage ?

I appreciate it needs more time off for recce etc

The Pirelli meant we had to take a day and a half off work, compared to one day off work for the Sunseeker and Border Counties or half a day for Severn Valley or Swansea Bay.

The entry fee should have been £950 compared to £675 for the 7 Valley, but I negotiated a deal to bring it down to an almost comparable figure.

Petrol to get there is the same, there is an extra nights hotel and meal bill and there is the cost of petrol for a 105 mile recce, but in a road car at fairly low speed. Tyres are double the cost as it is double the length. We had 2 punctures and used 4 other tyres I think. The current fronts will probably start on the back on the 7 valley. On event petrol is proportionally more. We bought Pattersons notes which are slightly more expensive than for a Nat A, but it was only for insurance in case ours didn't work, so we needn't have bothered.

We had to pay £40 to get our road section insurance ok for an international.

No damage to the car, other than two bent wheels @ £100, unlike Border Counties where I ended up with a nearly £3000 bill from MSport for parts to fix the damage.

As it happens we needed to buy 1 pair of boots and 2 balaclavas, but would have needed to soon anyway.

So the Pirelli, and Trackrod, are only a small step up in cost from a Nat A.

The Manx and Ulster would be a step up again, as you would have increased travel cost to get there, more time off work and more hotel and food bills.

As for Rally GB....................................
