CAR-nival Rally 10th June
 (United Kingdom)

The entry list for this event has filled to maximum 100 plus reserves with 3 weeks still to go before the closing date!

There are not many Tavern entries as far as I can see, just Dave Attiwell / Keith Emery in the Astra, Lee Harding will be with H.M., and I will be there with my regular man Tony in either the Golf or the Astra, whichever is most ready to rally! I've not done this event before but am told it is good.

Will anyone else be there either Radio / marshal / servicing?

Congrats to Lee (with some help from haydon!) on a fantastic result, this proves yet again that you don't need a WRC car to do well. As I was unable to start due to the car not being finished in time,I serviced for Dave & Keith and had the opportunity to see Haydon's Nova in action for the first time.

Dave and Keith in the Astra had a few problems with overheated brake fluid, a CV joint breaking up, and excessive tyre wear due to the extremely abrasive concrete surface. They decided to call it a day after stage 6 when the brakes cried enough and all the rubber was gone! Better luck next time lads.

I second that,Well Done Lee.Beating WRCs again and a 7 minute class win what more could you ask for.

Steve you beat me to it for our tale of woe.

Stage 1 overheating brakes at the end,we nearly didnt go back out.Stage 2 mystery electrical problem at stage start but clear on stage,in service found a broken wire so soldered it.Stage 3 broke cv joint and lost brakes again.Stage 4 electrical problem returns on stage start and totally shred tyres down to the core(bits flying everywhere!).Stage 5 shred another part worn tyre and almost lose the will to live so we retired. All this on top of Dave returning from holiday in Greece at 5.30am saturday morning and only having about 2hours sleep before having to get up and do final checks on the car.

Thanks Steve for all your help.Bad luck with your car not being finished in time.If that was me going to the rally and seeing what i was missing would be the last thing i would want to do,so thanks again for your help and there always next year.I think we will be back with some solid tyres like you get on forklift trucks.

It would be really great if in future any rally reports could be put on the News and Events page.

I don't want to discourage anyone from using the Forum but to my way of thinking the news and Events page is the better place for reports and reference it from the Forum.

Or put the report on both!

A report for Tavern Torque would always be welcomed as well.  Send to denise@desbois.co.uk

Thanks everyone.
