Regs are now out for this event (see Forresters Car Club website) and will probably fill fairly quickly. Shaun H and I will be out in the Astra, who else is coming out to play on this fabulous event? Let me know via this forum and I will keep the Club Event Calendar updated.
Our entry was posted on Monday !
Shaun has reluctantly had to pull out from this event so I'm looking for someone to replace him. Any offers?
Does not matter too much if you have no experience of the venue - I've been around it a few times!
Did I not hear that BT was wanting a ride?
You will have to contact BT directly as he doesn't lurk on this Forum.
I will send you his email address when I get home.
Thanks Alan and Nick for doing the 'Cilla' bit, Brian has emailed to say he is available, so he is 'booked'!
It is,he says at least 5 years since he was last competing there, but he still remembers the KERBS!
Should be good fun, who else is entering apart from us and Nick / Steve?
Well we managed 4 stages and what stormers they were !!!!!
Finally everything coming together with the Car (all the improvements) and me... on a caerwent stage in the past Steve Conner is normally 45-60secs quicker than us, so I said to (my) Steve if we were less than 30secs a drift from Steve on SS1 I would be happy .... so imagine my shock when (my) Steve said we were quicker than Steve C and 30 o/a on SS1 when we had been seeded 63...
The morning stages (SS1-4) had a close fight between 3 of the Tavern crews and after SS4 the Tavern Crews were: Jim 10o/a (without 4th gear) Rob & Dave 26o/a 10 secs ahead of us in 27 and Steve C & BT 3 secs behind us in 28 !
Unfortunately we were just about to drive out to the start of SS5 and found the steering had become vauge... the steering rack mounts were b****red and the rack moved 3/4" when moving the steering wheel so considering the options we thought we'd retire on a high and with the car, reasonably, unmarked...
We had a cracking time, we are used to being in the bottom 10/15 at Caerwent and being in the Top 30 from SS1 (well in the top half) very pleased. Had some interesting times, like spinning in front of and Evo we had just passed, then catching him again and getting stuck behind him for 1.5miles loosing about 30 secs in total we think but it is the best I have ever driven and the car (aside from the stering rack problem) was outstanding... shame we couldn't continue the close Tavern MC battle .... can't wait to get out again! ..... how many reserves currently are there for the FAS??????
(I'll put a more detailed report on the website and for Tavern Torque tomorrow)
Nice one Nick, looks like you have a good car under you now. Just a matter of sorting out the niggly problems. At least it didn't loosen half way round and throw you off the road.
Really pleased to see you and the car doing so well first time out after all the hard work rebuilding the car Nick. It sure would have been close between 'our' group if you had been able to continue - I was just getting warmed up when you retired! As it was, Rob/Dave were within striking distance at the end and without our 4 miles on a flat o/s/r we may well have ended just in front of them.
BT seemed to be enjoying his ride - he was really chuffed to have finished and is keen to do it all again!
