JD's 12 CAR - MONDAY 19 JANUARY - START AND FINISH AT CARPENTERS TAVERN - MAP 172.............
It is about time someone started a thread about the 12 Car event on Friday 28 November so here it is.
As most of you know Denise and I do not compete in road events but we will be out Marshalling - if of course there are enough crews entered for the event to run.
Get your entries in now then phone your potential rivals and tell them to enter and let's make this event a success.
So who is planning on entering or knows of anyone not on this forum who is entering?
You beat me to it.I am planning on entering with me in the stressful seat trying not to get us lost.
Question? Does the driver have to be a member of the club?
I am sure that both driver and co-driver have to be members. Don't know about any other passengers though??
Have you sent your entry in yet though?
I am intending to have another bash at navigating if I can find a driver .............. hope to get my entry in shortly.
Got an entry in for this one.... Will be bringing my Metro 6R4 out for this one.... is that ok?
So far I've had no luck in persuading anyone to come out in the lanes . If I don't get any offers I will marshal.
At least then I will be able to enjoy the glorious sound of Lee's 6R4!
Who else has entered so far?
Sent the entry off for Kit & me yesterday
Spoke to John Dando last night and he wants to co drive as well. He can't use his Volvco in the lanes any more as it is a bit tired. JD said that he was going to contact you to see if something could be sorted out but you would have to drive.
If he hasn't phoned you yet try his work email john.dando@sisnic.co.uk. He usually answers fairly quickly.
Sorry that I can't be back for this one. I love the 12 cars- fantastic practice for all involved, be it marshals or competitors. Anyone want to organise one around xmas/new yr....i'll promise to be there then!!! Just a small plea to all....no heroics.....it's not nice!!! I trust people have checked who's driving in the leigh car??!!
It's not the driver in the Leigh car that is the problem Will, it is who would drive in any car with you jinxing the co-drivers seat
it's not so bad alan....it seems i've moved the jinx onto gearboxes now rather than crashes!!
I trust people have checked who's driving in the leigh car??!!
Junior!!
Although we are equal on write offs, my brother is ahead of both of us.
Good news! John Dando has agreed to team up for the evening - the last time he sat with me was Smeatharpe in 2004 when we had a 'moment' on two wheels! Don't know what we will be using yet , might be the van!
Question is - will there be enough entries for the event to run???
Good luck to everyone tonight have a great time, and enjoy it!
Best of luck mostly to George for organising her first event....good effort
Thanks to Georgina for organizing the event... Had a good laugh in the Fog... We were a bit rusty but improved as the event went on... Personally I think someone kept stealing the codeboards when we got to them.... Looking forward to the next one where hopefully we won't cause carnage on any hairpins :D
Yes, Thanks to Georgina and Martin for a very enjoyable evening. A good choice of roads although some were rather narrow for the Trafic van!
Some say we had an advantage in the fog by sitting higher up we could see better, but I can't agree with that - we didn't once get into 6th gear!
I was going to try handbraking it around the Waterley Bottom hairpin,Lee .......... maybe next time?
And Thanks also to the Marshals who made it all possible. We could not enjoy our sport without you.
Cracking route.
I must learn to keep an eye on the time (and Kit must learn to keep an eye out for the code boards!)
Never seen a van driven that quick before Steve, I'd dump the Golf & the Astra and enter the van for Brean!!!
