Carfax Stages LONGCROSS 23rd NOV.
 (N/A)

My first ever visit to Longcross and final event for this year. I'm told it is a fabulous venue so looking forward to it. Will have a co-driver from the organising club Oxford M C who knows the venue, so that will be helpful! The entry list was full 5 weeks before the closing date and at one point there were 12 reserves, now down to 6.

Hoping for a good finish and a few more CMSG points which could secure 3rd overall in the championship, I've got the class anyway. Apart from the first event at Smeatharpe when we did not finish due to me clobbering some tyres and breaking an engine mount, we have finished every event entered with both the Golf and the Astra so very pleased with that!

Here's hoping Mark Chapman also has a good result as he has had such bad luck so far this year.

I've heard from Shaun Harding that he and Lee may well be marshalling - anyone else going up?

Well, we both finished! On a day which started with snow on the ground followed by heavy rain making the stages very slippery, Mark came in 12th overall 2nd in class with us in the Astra a few places behind in 21st o/a and 7th i/c.  From 67 starters only 41 made it to the finish.

Yet again there was very little to do on the Astra. Apart from topping up the fuel we found the front brake master cylinder was empty after two stages but we could find no leak. After topping up the level was checked after each stage but remained full to the end. And yes,it was full before the start!
