..........WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE CARPENTERS TAVERN - SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS..................
Hi All,
Did anyone make it to Dundry?
Myself and Hugh tried but decided to abort at the bottom of Dundry Hill.
We had a moment at Winford.
Just point out i wasnt at the wheel.
See you all next week.
Phil.
I got there a bit late about 9.30/9.45 ish but the car park was empty, so spun round & went home.
Had been to the gym so went via the road off the A38 near the Shell garage. That was OK, but it was a bit exciting coming down Dundry Hill into Bishopsworth.
I decided that it was folly to try and get off our hill and up Dndry hill and back again. We already had 3 inches of snow in our drive when I got home from work and we had another 3 inches before midnight.
Me and Shaun got to the top of Dundry Hill but as it levelled out before the last little rise we came across a Merc going sideways with its rear off the road so decided in an hour it would be significantly worse so bailed out!
I made it to the top(just) at about 9.30 but with only 2 cars in the car park both of which looked like they had been there all day i too turned round and went home.
Tim i think you overtook me going down the hill as my poor old mundaneo hasnt got TCS ABS wide wheels tread on tyres etc so yes it was entertaining. When i did get to the bottom i think i may of seen JD's Volvo turning round at the bottom of the hill.
Ah! Was that you?
It was either overtake you or use you as a brake as I couldn't slow down to follow you! The wide wheels are not was wanted really, 4wd was quite handy though.
Well we made it to the pub last night. For 5 minutes anyway. Phil and Hugh were there but that was it.
As we had to go down from Dundry and up again to get home we decided that to stay would be risky.
When we left home at 08:35 it was pissing down with rain. I had promised to bring some tyres up for Daniel and they were already in the Mondeo so we took that instead of the Subaru. At the bottom of the hill at Dundry it was still raining but as soon as we started to climb it was snow and it was settling. At the pub there was already an inch or more on the roads.
It snowed all the way home and we had a half inch on the roads at 09:35.
What a difference an hour makes.
I was running late againg and got to the bottom of Dundry Hill at around 9.30/9.35 at which time the snow was thickening nicely. I thought I saw JD going the other way and fearing it may get even worse I turned round and went home.
Well I sat in my hotel room in Derby watching the snow out of the window thinking I wish I was at the club night ... well actually wishing I was anywhere but here !
Full of confidence after sucessfully reaching the top and pub car park last monday i wasnt going to let a bit of slushy snow stop me this week.
WRONG i made it round the hairpins and about half way up the last long climb before the turning for Dundry when suddenly i lost all grip and stopped.A three point slide/turn and then the long scary slip slide skid back to the bottom and home.I too think JD passed me going up as i was coming down.
If it snows next monday maybe we could all meet at the bottom and take it in turns to see how far we get up the hill sticking a little flag in the hedge at the point we stop.No 4WDs(sorry Tim)The winner gets 100 club championship points
I have been sat in the pub carpark for the last two mondays , not sure who i have past on the climb up .
Must admit the 4ft snow drift across the road , halfway down dundry east road did make me have to take the easier route
Just a shame there wasn't a 12car !!
Why did'nt you come inside there was about 8 of us in there and we had a nice evening.
Could'nt believe snow 2 weeks on the trot.
The munden posse had fun snow balling outside and believe they were going to carry on through the night pulling a inflateable on the back of the Shogun around the Chew Valley.
The journey for me and Hugh back to Yatton was fun i must admit.
No snow, no excuses.
See everyone at the pub tonight
Nice and early of course for Fat Albert kick off meeting at 20:30
