Phil

You should have seen it on Friday morning!!!

It genuinely took me and a neighbor 3 hours to dig out the cars and clear the foot of snow from the driveway.

A BIG thanks to Nick who come over in the Discovery to pull the trailer out from down the side of the garage.  We would never have got it out on our own.

Here you go...

Driveway at 09:30 Friday - the trailer is behind the gate at the side of the garage

A37 at the end of my road (near Chilcompton)

Me digging - I had already done the drive and was starting on clearing a route to get the trailer out.

Cleared driveway. - 3 hours work.

Re: The Snow

She spent most of the time on the internet and TV looking and listening to the weather reports and closed bridges reports and watching the Wyedean website then trying to convince me to come in and stop wasting my time as the event was definately going to be called off.

It took a drive as far as Whitchurch at 13:00 on Friday to convince her that the roads were safe enough to take the trailer out.

Well done Alan.Did you get held up by the bridge closure.I was in work and every travel update made me think of all the rally crews stuck in the long queue at severn bridge.

I would like to know what dork decided it would be quicker to take everyone off the motorway onto the roundabout, then back onto the motorway again. Bizarre.

We left home at 16:30 and got just past the M4/M5 junction at about 17:20.  It then took over an hour to get to the toll booths on the M48.  This was only due to the roadworks and the traffic going from 2 lanes to one lane.  If only people would merge in gradually instead of batting down the outside and pushing in at the last minute then it would work much better.

At least we did not have to go via Gloucester.

Surely it was due to roadworks not because someone though it was quicker.

Well that's what Kit said, but I couldn't see any roadworks when we drove back and they weren't there on Saturday evening. I did wonder whether it was so they could shut it again quickly if they wanted to, but I am sure it added to the queue

Re: The Snow

I think they filter you off as you say just in case they have to close it again suddenly, because when there is high winds they do the same....

Not only that if there is mega traffic build up, I think they prefer to filter people in to the booths gently rather than having a free for all!
